The Chesapeake Elite Volleyball Academy is a Maryland-based junior club volleyball program that competes nationally and regionally. CEVA is committed to providing the best in player development, no matter the age or level. Additionally, program unity, the development of well-rounded persons, and creating an enjoyable atmosphere is equally important to us as wins and losses.
It is CEVA’s mission to create a platform of exposure for athletic development, college scholarship opportunities, and personal growth for every player. Coaches emphasize the importance of leadership, development of individual skills, team participation and a positive work ethic. We encourage our athletes to be active role models in the community, classroom and on the court. This vision builds confident people/athletes who will positively contribute to communities throughout their lives.

ABOUT THE COACHES
Players who play on a CEVA team have the right to expect current instruction and quality coaching. All coaches are USAV certified and background screened and bring a wealth of coaching and playing experience to all of our student athletes. Among our staff are individuals with Youth, Junior, Collegiate and National coaching experience. Our coaches have playing experience at the Junior, Collegiate and National levels. Entering our fourth season as a member of CHRVA, we proudly announce our 2018 - 2019 CEVA coaching staff.
Club Director: AJ Himes
AJ returns in his fourth season as co-founder and has moved into being the Director of CEVA. Coach AJ comes from 3 years of Assistant Coaching experience and working as a Strength and Conditioning Coach for Velocity Volleyball Club prior to him and Stephanie Himes introducing CEVA to the region. Coach AJ brings a wealth of knowledge in Business Administration and looks forward to expanding CEVA while keeping the same values and principles the club was built on. Coach Stephanie is excited to enter into the fourth year for CEVA in the Chesapeake Region this season. She started her playing career at Broadneck High School, in Annapolis MD, as a four-year Varsity player. During her four years, they won 2 Anne Arundel County Championships, 4 Regional Championships and 2 Maryland State Titles. Stephanie was named 1st team All Anne Arundel County two times, named All Anne Arundel County MVP, and 1st team All-Metro. She also played 8 years of USAV juniors for Chesapeake Volleyball Club. Coach Stephanie continued her volleyball career at the collegiate level - playing for Anne Arundel Community College and Salisbury University. At AACC they won the Regional Championship and she was named region tournament MVP. At Salisbury they won 2 Conference Championship Titles and made it to the Elite 8 in the National Championship. She was the Varsity Assistant Coach at Broadneck High School in 2010 and the Head Coach at Anne Arundel Community College in 2011 and 2012. Coach Stephanie was the Assistant Director for Velocity Volleyball Club (2011 - 2013) and Head Coach for 7 years at the 15's and 16's National Travel level. Coach Stephanie is SafeSport and IMPACT certified.
Technical Director: Kameron Beans
Coach Kam comes back to CEVA for this fourth year after spending the off-season in Florida and Louisiana, training with and playing in the National Volleyball League as well the AVP Professional Beach Tour for Professional Beach Volleyball. Coach Kam played club for NVVA, Maryland Volleyball Academy, and Tampa Bay Invaders VBC. Throughout his playing career, Coach Kam also played in the USA pipeline and has been on and trained with the National Team through High Performance as well as playing in the Professional Volleyball League (PVL) with Florida Wave, LVC, and Chesapeake Rising Tide. During his collegiate experience at Juniata College, he and his team were National Championship Runner-Up. While attending Juniata, Coach Kam served as the Student Assistant Coach for the Women’s Team and has coached at the JC clinics and camps, as well as numerous other D1 program camps, giving him the knowledge and experience of some of the best coaches in the country. He coached for Velocity Volleyball Club for 3 years at all age groups and acted as the club's Assistant Technical Director and Individual Strength/Conditioning Coach. With this being just his 4th year with CEVA, he has assisted more than 20 graduates receive financial aid from their respective collegiate programs, and is noted as our Recruiting Coordinator as well as our Technical Director, giving him the opportunity to work with all of our teams and coaches, and continuing to grow the game. He was previously the Varsity Head Coach for Dr. Henry Wise High School and is previously in his first season as Assistant Coach at Division I Delaware State University. Coach Kam is IMPACT and SafeSport certified.
Coach Amanda is excited to be entering her first season coaching with CEVA. Coach Amanda grew up playing volleyball local to Anne Arundel County, competing for 4 years at Southern High School in Harwood, MD as a Middle Hitter. She went on to play in college on York College's club team as a Setter. Coach Amanda is in her first year of coaching JV volleyball at Glen Burnie High School. Coach Amanda is IMPACT and SafeSport certified.
Coach Ashlie is excited to be entering her 2nd season with CEVA. She was CEVA 15 Regional’s Head Coach last season and also has 2 years of graduate assistant experience coaching for Division I Coppin State University. Coach Ashlie played for Coach May at Kentucky State and Arkansas Pine Bluff. She was an All-SWAC performer in 2014. Coach Ashlie is IMPACT and SafeSport certified.
Coach Bethany enters her fourth year coaching with CEVA. She was the Head Coach for our 17s travel team both in 2018 and 2017. In 2015, she was Assistant Coach to our 16 Travel Team and in 2016; she was a Co-Head Coach for the 16 Regional Team. Coach Bethany played as a libero for Velocity Volleyball Club for three years and Archbishop Spalding High School for four years. She continued her volleyball career at the collegiate level at Division II school, Flagler College, and also played for a local beach league in Florida. Coach Bethany is currently in her 4th year coaching for Old Mill High School, 3 years as the JV Head Coach and currently in her first season as Varsity Head Coach. Coach Bethany is IMPACT and SafeSport certified.
Elise Hernandez is joining for her first season coaching with CEVA. She has been playing volleyball for the past sixteen years, starting with her experience in Cleveland, Ohio where she played for the Cleveland Volleyball Company, Magnificat High School, and the Ohio Valley Region High Performance Team as a setter and a libero. After graduating high school in 2011, she attended the United States Coast Guard Academy, where she had the opportunity to play Division III NCAA volleyball, and expanded her experience to include both outside and right-side hitting. After college, Elise moved to Saint Petersburg, Florida, where she began playing beach volleyball and competed for two years at the AA level. She moved to Maryland in 2017 for her job as a naval engineer in the United States Coast Guard, and has been itching for an opportunity to play in the Baltimore/Annapolis area since arriving. Currently, Elise is the JV Head Coach for Old Mill High School.
Jordan enters her second season coaching with CEVA. She played Outside Hitter all four years in high school at Southern High School, in Harwood MD. Coach Jordan continued her volleyball career at the collegiate level - playing for Albright College for four years as an Outsider Hitter and DS. Jordan played club for Velocity Volleyball Club and is excited to have the opportunity to kick-start her club coaching career with CEVA. She was Head Coach of JV for two years at Bishop McNamara and just completed her second season coaching Varsity at Glen Burnie High School. Coach Jordan is IMPACT and SafeSport certified.
Coach Lauren joins CEVA this year for her second season after coaching 3 years with Southern Maryland Volleyball Club. Lauren played Varsity 4 years at Calvert High School and simultaneously played club at both Maryland Juniors and SMJ. She went on to play collegiately at Pfieffer University. Lauren also currently coaches at St. Mary’s Catholic High School. She’s excited to be joining the CEVA family. Coach Lauren is IMPACT and SafeSport certified.
Coach Lorenzo enters his second season coaching with CEVA after coaching 2 years with DIGS Volleyball Club in New Jersey and two years coaching for Saint Peter’s Prep, where him and his team won 1 county title, 1 state sectional title, were the NJ State Championship runner-ups and he produced 4 All-State players. He also coached at the collegiate level for 2 years at New Jersey City University, both men’s and women’s. Coach Lorenzo played at Rutgers University and was a member of the Philippine National Team U21. He currently serves our country in the United States Navy, stationed at Fort Meade. He’s very excited to be joining CEVA this season. Coach Lorenzo is IMPACT and SafeSport certified.
Coach Shelby enters her fourth year coaching with CEVA. In the previous seasons she was Head Coach to our 18 regional team, Assistant Coach to our 17 travel team, and has also coached our 16 Regional Team. She has been playing volleyball for 15 years and she played four years of Varsity high school volleyball at Broadneck High School, in Annapolis MD. During her four years, they won 3 Regional Championships and 3 Maryland State Titles. Coach Shelby continued her volleyball career at the collegiate level - playing for Anne Arundel Community College for two years. She also coached for Velocity Volleyball Club for two years at the 16's and 14's age groups. Coach Shelby is IMPACT and SafeSport certified.
Coach Tara enters her second season coaching with CEVA. She has been playing volleyball for many years and she played three years of Varsity high school volleyball at Broadneck High School, in Annapolis MD. During her high school career, they won 3 Regional Championships and 2 Maryland State Titles. Coach Tara continued her volleyball career at the collegiate level - playing for Anne Arundel Community College for two years and continues to play for USAV women’s teams. Tara played club for Velocity Volleyball Club and is excited to have the opportunity to kick-start her coaching career with CEVA. Coach Tara is IMPACT and SafeSport certified.
Chesapeake Elite Volleyball Academy (CEVA) Technical Director, Kameron Beans, is known for his ability to help individuals with their recruiting process. Not only does he handle each athlete individually, he is very effective helping the athletes who need more assistance with the process, diamond-in-the-rough athletes!
